Won' t the World Be a Better Place If It Was Christmas Everyday?

I am not referring to the time of the year when people receive and give gifts because tradition dictates so, or when people steal or kidnap to get more money to feed their families with food fit for Noche Buena, or when people spend more than they have just to keep appearances for their inaanaks and kumares/kumpares. I am talking about the season when people seem to become a little bit nicer to each other.

Just because it's Christmas.

And why, I ask myself, do people become nicer this time of the year? Maybe it's for the Lord, or His son's birthday, or maybe just the feel of the entire concept of Christmas, but if people, everyone, used this whatever they're feeling every single day of their lives to become nicer, kinder, more loving to their fellowmen, won't the world be a better place?

Why do we have to become nice only when the Christmas season comes? Why not everyday when there is no special event that gives us a push to become kinder? Why not when it matters most? It's one thing to be nice on a certain time of the year, it's another to be loving the entire year when no one is watching and for no apparent reason.

Won't the world be a better place if it was Christmas everyday? :)
